Naples, Florida Weather in August

With an average high of 93° and an average water temperature of 87°, August is a great time to relax on the calming Southwest Coast beaches and refresh from sun-filled days in the comfortable and calming waters of the Gulf. Floridians from the East Coast and Central Florida flock to Naples on the weekends to take advantage of our quieter and more peaceful beach scene. Floridian neighbors can also enjoy evenings downtown on 5th Avenue for dinner and then late nights at Mercato for live music, drinks & dancing. Afternoon thunderstorms are common in the summer months, but the rain rarely sticks around long enough to spoil an entire day.

You may be wondering about the Atlantic hurricane season, which can affect tourism in the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of the United States. The official hurricane season begins June 1st and ends on November 30th. Luckily, Naples hasn't had a named hurricane in a few years and the weather tends to be mostly sunny during the day.

Naples - What to Wear in August

Naples is well known for fashion and amazing shopping, but you can pack comfortable, casual clothing and blend right in! Most restaurants do not require a formal dress code so we recommend resort casual for evening dining. You'll definitely want to pack your swimming & sunning clothing including flip flops, bathing suits and cover ups, shorts, hats, etc. We do recommend bringing a light rain jacket or umbrella if you plan to be out and about in Naples shopping in the late afternoon during the brief rainshowers.

The resort offers a well-stocked store in the lobby including sundries like sunscreen, Maui Jim sunglasses and toiletries but also fashionable bathing suits, trendy cover ups, sweaters, logo gear and local Naples trinkets.

Waterside Shops is a collection of over 60 upscale retailers and restaurants, conveniently located within walking distance to the resort. The shops - including retailers like Lilly Pulitzer, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Anthropologie and more - are a beautifully landscaped outdoor mall anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstroms.

In August, enjoy a long weekend before schools back in session, or a romantic getaway at a great value!  Early August is the beginning of Florida Lobster Season too!
